I don’t know if it is appropriate to be offended by this or not, but I am.

high school classmate’s mom to me at work today, “what are you majoring in?”

me, “art, with a painting concentration.”

her, “oh, you talented girl.”

1- talent implies that I don’t work and that everything comes naturally to me.

2- I’m not a girl, I’m a grown woman and would like to be treated as such - don’t talk down to me

3- I’m just sick of getting asked this question from dozens of people, I’ve been in college for four years and haven’t changed my major-don’t pretend to care now if you didn’t care the first time
